The Lifesaving Society is recognized as a leader in developing standards for activities on and around water. The Society sets national safety standards, which can be found here. The Society updates these standards regularly and uses experience and evidence-based research to improve the standards.

The Society helps aquatic facility operators maintain and improve safe pool and waterfront operations. In response to requests, Society representatives perform safety audits, assist with aquatic safety plans, and provide expert testimony in legal cases involving aquatic safety.
