The purpose of the application for equivalency is to recognize prior training and experience, while ensuring that Lifesaving Society standards for certification are met.
The Application for Equivalency and supporting documentation allows the Society to assess the applicant’s competencies. The Society compares the applicant’s awards, certifications and experience to the Lifesaving Society’s training programs curricula and evaluation criteria. The Society will notify the applicant whether the equivalency has been approved, or if there are specific areas of competency which require additional training, upgrading or recertification.
The applicant may submit a single application for multiple awards. For example, a person certified as a lifeguard in a foreign country may submit a single application for National Lifeguard – Pool, Standard First Aid, and CPR-C simultaneously.
If curricula are not in English, attaching translations is essential.
