Re-certification
Lifesavers who have obtained a LIFESAVING SOCIETY award hold that award for life. However, to maintain a "current" award, individuals are required to retake the test every two years. A new certification card is issued to successful lifesavers after each re-test.
First Aid awards only qualify for recertification before they expire; expired first aid awards require the course to be re-taken in full.

LEADERSHIP RECERTIFICATION: Give Yourself Credit
The Lifesaving Society’s Leadership Recertification Credit System applies to all of the Society’s Instructors and Examiners: Swim, Lifesaving, Boat Rescue, Boat Operator Accredited Training, First Aid, and National Lifeguard. The System is designed to recognize individual needs and interests by encouraging instructors to learn and improve through continuing education and professional development.
