History

Dominion Beach was one of the original 15 beaches first supervised by the Nova Scotia Beach Supervision Program in 1973.

Facilities

Dominion Beach features a large change house that includes showers, flush toilets, and abundant parking.

Beach Safety

Dominion Beach is a relatively safe beach with a gentle sloping sand bottom. It can experience large surf conditions when the wind is blowing from the Northeast. The rough surf conditions develop strong currents which can make swimming dangerous. The supervised swimming area is marked by two red and yellow flags approximately 200m apart. On days with offshore winds, inflatables or floatation devices are not to be used.

~ you can still burn through the cloud cover! So remember to apply and reapply sunscreen!!

**The rocky section of the beach is CLOSED for your own safety. Please do not climb over the rock wall and berm.**

This year the boardwalk has become exposed. Please do not climb on it while our DNR department works on getting it removed. As it coupd be dangerous, thank you!!

Sunscreen doesn't last all day! Make sure to reapply EVERY 2 hours and after every swim! It is the ocean, so we share the water with other creatures. Keep an eye out for seals, crabs, lobsters, jelly fish and porpoises. They're fun to watch, but please keep your distance. For any questions, comments, or concerns, come find a lifeguard!
