History

Aylesford Lake Beach is a relatively new site. It was man-made and ready for public use in 1990 and since has been well visited by regular beach goers and tourists to the area.

Facilities

Aylesford Lake Beach features a boardwalk, parking lot, picnic tables, a public boat launch, boat docks, canteen, change houses, drinking water, clean portable washrooms, an open grass field, walking trails and playgrounds.

Beach Safety

Aylesford Lake Beach is generally a very safe beach. There are no drop offs or dangerous spots in the water. The lake's rocky bottom can be uncomfortable for tender feet. The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service supervises a 100m section of the beach. Each end of the beach is well defined by rock and tree lines. Information on beach conditions are announced daily on Magic 94.9 and AVR 97.7, the local fm radio stations, at 11:00 am. Boats are not permitted to travel within the supervised area, which is marked by red buoys in the water and red and yellow flags on land. Due to county regulations, alcohol, pets and open fires are not permitted on the beach.

Directions

From provincial highway take Exit 13 and travel south on Route 12. Turn right after the Irving service station, and then make a quick left. Aylesford Lake Beach is located 22 kilometres down this road.
